Competitiveness
Light rapid transit systems have been shown to deliver improvements to the economic competitiveness of cities and regions.
Broadly, these fall into three categories:
- - The permanence of light rail infrastructure creates confidence to invest for the long-term
- - light rail provides a high quality, sustainable service that allows businesses and users to operate more consistently and hence efficiently and
- - light rail enhances the urban landscape and make city centres more attractive places to live and work.
