With over 200 guests from all over the world, the International interest in this years event was extraordinary, highlighting the significance of Light Rail on a global scale.

DfT Report - Green Light for Light Rail

NET Phase Two Preferred Bidder Named

Nottingham City Council has selected Tramlink Nottingham as its preferred bidder to build two new tram lines to Clifton and Chilwell (NET Phase Two) and operate the extended tram network.

This announcement follows an extensive competitive process which adhered to European procurement rules involving a detailed evaluation of tendered proposals from two bidding consortia - Tramlink Nottingham and Arrow Connect.

The 5th Annual LRTF Conference has been an outstanding success. Parliamentary Under Secretary of State Norman Baker MP took time personal out to set out the coalition government's light rail strategy, and importantly seek the active support of the private sector to ensure that it is carried out. He also confirmed his personal commitment to light rail.

LRTF welcomes Cross River Tram consultation

The Light Rapid Transit Forum has welcomed the Transport for London (TfL) consultation on route options for the Cross River Tram, launched on 22 November. The scheme envisages a tram running from Euston to Waterloo, with Camden Town, Kings Cross, Brixton and Peckham.

New guidance boost for light rail sector

The Light Rapid Transit Forum has welcomed the publication by the Department for Transport (DfT) of draft guidance to sponsors of light rapid transit schemes for consultation. The guidance has been developed in consultation with the LRT Forum and other members of UKTRAM.
